Bahia Blanca, Argentina - The Quick Story:

Team Canada erased an early 6-0 deficit to defeat Mexico 10-8 in a hard-fought battle on Wednesday at the WBSC Americas U18 Men’s Pan American Championship. Jeremy Breton threw six and two third innings of solid relief, while Jared Picco had two key hits to pace the Canadian offence.

Key Moments:

Down 6-0 in the top of the third, Will Singer got the offence going by hitting a hard ground ball off the pitcher for Canada’s first hit of the game. Bryce Rebertz followed with a double and Rylan Sutherland walked to load the bases before Picco drilled a base clearing triple to left. After Picco scored on a passed ball, Kian Poitras added a run-scoring double to cut the lead to 6-5. Canada tied the game the following inning on a passed ball, then put up four runs in the fifth to build a 10-6 lead, highlighted by run-scoring singles by Will Singer and Maverick Turgeon and a two-run hard hit ground ball by Picco that the shortstop wasn’t able to put a glove on.
