Surrey, B.C. - In a 7-0 victory against TC Colorado, Canada clinched the 2024 Canada Cup Championship, a title they last won in 2019. Team Canada remained undefeated throughout the tournament and now sets their sights on the 2024 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals in Castions di Strada, Italy.

Canada took the lead in the bottom of the third inning when CC Wong (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) drew a walk, followed by Larissa Franklin's (Maple Ridge, B.C.) single to right field. With two runners on base and a 3-0 count, Callum Pilgrim (Abbotsford, B.C.) unleashed a powerful swing, sending the ball over the left-field wall for a 3-run homer. An error added another run, bringing the score to 4-0.

In the fourth inning, Canada extended their lead by three more runs. Janet Leung (Mississauga, Ont.) reached on an error, with Kristen Boyd (Carbon, Alta.) coming in as a pinch runner. Boyd advanced to third on Kelsey Harshman’s (Delta, B.C.) double to left field. Wong then hit in Boyd and advanced Harshman to third on another error. Franklin added another run with a single to shortstop, and Pilgrim capped the inning with a line drive to center field, driving in the final run.

Sara Groenewegen (Surrey, B.C.) started in the circle for Canada, pitching two innings with three strikeouts, two walks, and two hits allowed. Dawn Bodrug (Georgetown, Ont.) took over in relief, pitching three innings with two strikeouts and just one hit allowed.
