Softball Canada is saddened to learn of the passing of Nels Rissling on March 8, 2022 at the age of 89.
Rissling grew up in Saskatoon and was a member of the Saskatoon Merchants team that won the gold medal at the 1969 Men's Canadian Championship. He moved to Edmonton and served as President of Softball Alberta, as a Softball Canada commissioner in 1972, 1973 and 1985 and Softball Canada's Board of Directors from 1976 to 1982. He was one of the first Builders inducted to the Softball Canada Hall of Fame in 1988. He was inducted to the Softball Alberta Hall of Fame a year earlier in 1987, and is also part of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1969 Saskatoon Merchants inducted in 1984.
