The 2023 Canadian Championships are fast approaching, with nine different cities playing host to the crowning of this year’s Canadian Champions. Throughout the next six months, we will be highlighting these host cities and all they have to offer when August comes around.

The sixth event on the list is the 2023 U19 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championships from August 2- 6, at Centennial Park in Langford, B.C. The tournament is being hosted by Softball B.C. and Langford Minor Fastball Association. Langford has been offering fast pitch programming on the Westshore for over 50 years and is one of the largest minor fast pitch associations in B.C.

Centennial Park is considered one of Langford’s best “all ages” park, with something to do for everyone. There are four diamonds equipped with pristine lighting, two tennis courts, and two playgrounds.

The host team this year will be the U19 Langford Lightning Bryden. The team previously won the 2022 U17 Canadians in Montreal, so they are looking forward to possibly repeating their success, this time on home soil.

"We are so excited to bring the U19 Women’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championship back to the Island. It has been a long time since Canadians were hosted in Victoria and we are very excited to host them for the first time here at Langford Minor Fastball," said Host Chair, Riki-Lee Jessup.

When you’re not at the diamond playing or cheering, Langford offers a variety of activities to keep everyone entertained. Be sure to visit Centre Park, the region’s only ten-pin bowling alley, an 18-hole mini-golf course and the Playzone indoor jungle gym. If you’re looking for more exciting attractions, just a short drive away is the new Malahat Skywalk, Hatley Castle (as seen in Deadpool and X-Men movies). Just a short drive away is the beautiful city of Victoria, which offers more things to do and see for the whole family. Take a tour of the famous Butchart Gardens and Craigdarroch Castle, and if you’re looking to get off land, be sure to check out the world-class whale watching, kayaking, and sailing. “We are pleased to have Softball Canada and all the provinces come experience fast pitch here in Langford. We believe everyone will have a great time playing and watching the wonderful sport of softball,” said Jessup.
