Canada’s U-15 Women’s National Team Goes Undefeated in the Placement Round at the 2025 WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup

Milan, Italy – The Quick Story:  

Team Canada closed out its 2025 WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup campaign with a 6–3 victory over Spain, finishing the Placement Round undefeated. With the score tied 1–1 in the third inning, Canada took control with a three-run burst and added two more in the fifth. Spain pushed back with a pair of runs in the sixth, but Canada held firm to secure the win through a complete team effort. 

Key Moment: 

Tied at 1–1 in the third, Rylee Kobasew launched a two-run triple to deep right field, bringing home Robyn McIsaac and Sara MacDonald to give Canada the lead. Kobasew then crossed the plate on an RBI groundout from Amarah Hunter to make it 4–1. In the fifth, Leah Rayson sparked more offense with an inside-the-park home run, and Sophia Massaro delivered an RBI single to pad the lead. 

Notes: 

  • Rylee Kobasew went 1-for-2 with a triple, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. 
  • Leah Rayson hit an inside-the-park home run. 
  • Sophia Massaro went 1-for-3 with an RBI. 
  • Rachel Clegg pitched 0.1 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk, and striking out 1. 
  • Jordyn Mackenzie threw 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4. 
  • Kenzie Newman pitched 1.2 innings, allowing 2 runs with 6 walks and 2 strikeouts. 
  • Chelsea Tan closed out the game with 1.1 innings, striking out 1 to help seal the win.

With the victory, Canada ends its tournament on a high note, going undefeated in the Placement Round and gaining valuable international experience. The medal games will take place tomorrow, July 5, as the tournament comes to a close in Milan.
