Canadian Men’s Softball Team Ready to Compete at The World Games 2025

Chengdu, China – After having its first game yesterday postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, the Canadian Men’s National Softball Team is ready to open The World Games at the Xindu Better City Softball Complex in Chengdu with a doubleheader, facing Australia August 7th at 9:00am China Standard time (August 6th 9:00pm Eastern Daylight Time) and the United States at 3:00pm CST (3:00am EDT).

 
The Canadian squad will be led by the coaching staff of John Stuart (Merritt, B.C.), Les Howey (Conception Bay South) and Doug Allin (Peachland, B.C.). The roster includes nine (9) athletes who recently competed at the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals in Prince Albert, along with four (4) other athletes from the Athlete Pool who previously represented Canada at the international level.
 
Men’s Softball returns to The World Games for the first time since 1981. The competition is being held August 6-10, with eight teams competing in two pools. Group A includes Japan (No. 1), Venezuela (No. 2), Argentina (No. 3) and the Czech Republic (No. 9), while Group B is comprised of Australia (No. 4), Canada (No. 6), the United States (No. 7) and Singapore (No. 11).
 
The top two teams from each group will advance to the crossover semi-finals, with the winner of the two semi-finals advancing to the gold medal game and the losing teams squaring off for bronze.
