Napanee excited to host U20 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championships for second consecutive year

The 2023 Canadian Championships are fast approaching, with nine different cities playing host to the crowning of this year’s Canadian Champions. Throughout the next six months, we will be highlighting these host cities and all they have to offer when August comes around.

The seventh event on the list is the 2023 U20 Men’s Canadian Fast Pitch Championships from August 15-20, 2023, at Napanee Fairgrounds Sports Complex in Napanee, Ont. Softball Napanee has hosted the U18/U19/U20 Men’s Canadian Championships six times prior to the 2023 U20 Men’s Canadian Championships – 1982, 1988, 1992, 2002, 2018 and 2022.

Equipped with two diamonds, Napanee Fairgrounds Sports Complex is one of the city’s top sports facilities.

The host team this year will be The Napanee Express U20 Men. At last year’s event in Napanee, the team fell short to the Tavistock Athletics, resulting in a silver medal.

“Hosting Canada's top U20 Men's teams is something that Napanee and the Napanee Express family holds a great deal of pride in”, said Ryan Reynolds, Board of Directors member for Softball Napanee. “Being able to gather the country's top players at our facility and opening the doors to them in our town is something Softball Napanee strives to do.”

Nestled between Kingston and Belleville at the eastern end of the Bay of Quite, Napanee is home to approximately 15,892 people.

While you’re there, escape the stress and high energy of the ballpark and experience Napanee’s waterfalls and local parks. Take a walk around Springside Park where you can catch a glimpse of the beautiful Napanee Falls, a peacefully flowing cascade that’s 30 to 40 metres long and ten metres wide near the mouth of the Napanee River.

For those who enjoy art, the city has a collection of artworks under the Pallet’able Art Project. These works of dotted art are scattered throughout the city, with each piece featuring imagery painted across repurposed wooden industrial pallets or skids. For more things to do and see, click here.

“Creating a positive experience for the players and families during the week they spend at Canadians is something we are committed to as an organization and town. We’re very excited to bring the country’s best back to Napanee in August!”
