Ottawa, Ont. – Softball Canada and the Men’s National Team coaching staff are pleased to announce eight (8) athletes who have been selected as core players who will represent Canada at the 2026 WBSC U23 Men’s Softball World Cup. The tournament will be played April 25 to May 3, 2026 in Sincelejo, Colombia.

“Our coaching staff is very excited to announce the athlete pool and core athletes who will represent Canada at the WBSC U23 Men’s World Cup in Colombia” stated Doug Allin, Head Coach of the U23 Men’s National Team program. “We feel the core athletes have proven they deserve to be named to the team based on their performance, leadership, experience, dedication, and talent. Our staff will now focus on working with these athletes over the next few months before naming the remainder of the roster to give us the best opportunity to compete for a World Cup gold medal.”
 
The announcement of the core players follows the timelines identified in the U23 Men’s National Team Selection Process. The coaching staff will select the remaining eight (8) athletes by February 1, 2026 to form its 16-player World Cup roster.
 
Canada qualified for the 2026 WBSC U23 Men’s Softball World Cup with a silver-medal performance at the II U23 Men’s Pan American Championship that took place September 13-20 in La Pampa, Argentina.

In addition to the eight (8) core athletes, the following thirteen (13) athletes have been named to the 2026 U23 Men’s National Athlete Pool and are in consideration for the eight (8) final roster spots:

Athletes named to the U23 Men’s National Team Athlete Pool are eligible to be invited to Men’s National Team training, development and selection camps. Athletes may be added or removed from the National Team Athlete Pool at any time at the coaching staff’s discretion.
