Indigenous Artwork Contest Winner 2023

Indigenous Artwork Contest Winner 2023

11 August 2023 Angela Ballantyne

To honor the rich diversity that enriches our sport, Softball Canada launched an Indigenous Design contest, inviting talented members of the softball community to showcase their artistic side. We proudly chose Rachelle Vilness as our winner. Hailing from Kispiox, BC, Rachelle Vilness, known as Hlgu Bilost’ in Gitxsan, belongs to the Ge'el house within the Gitxsan Nation.

In a meaningful stride towards celebrating unique cultures and perspectives within our softball community, we've chosen to feature Rachelle Vilness' design on t-shirts and sweaters. These items will not only showcase Rachelle's creative talent but will also play a role in making a positive impact. The proceeds from the sale of these items will be directed to a charitable cause of Rachelle’s choice.

By wearing these limited-edition t-shirts and sweaters, participants, coaches, and spectators alike can proudly demonstrate their support for Softball Canada's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. This collective dedication echoes our commitment to fostering an environment of understanding and respect. Congratulations Rachelle!
