Title: Performance Analyst – WNT
Type of position: 1-year contract

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / SCOPE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for developing and managing the WNT performance analysis program to support athlete and team preparation and ultimately, performance via the coaching staff. The performance analyst is a core member of the integrated support team and is expected to develop a working knowledge of and contribute to team values, goals and objectives. *This position will travel with the team in-season 90-120 days consecutively in 2019.
This role includes all organizational and administrative duties, including but not limited to the recruitment of volunteer staff, staff training and development, equipment / database monitoring, reporting and collaboration with external partners (i.e. SAS).
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Demonstrated aptitude for technology, video capture and feedback methodologies
- Experience in the use of performance analysis tools, i.e. Dartfish
- Technical and tactical understanding of international Softball (and/or Baseball)
- Experience collaborating with athletes, coaches and integrated support team members at a national, professional or international level
- Ability to work in a fast paced and evolving environment with a high degree of professionalism, independence and drive
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal as well as creative / critical thinking skills
- Flexibility and availability to travel extensively, in season with the team
- Graphic design skills
- Bilingualism is an asset
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ensure game footage and statistical data is captured, tagged and stored via Dartfish and Dartfish TV, in real time at both international competition and select training camps
2. Ensure opposition game footage and statistical data is captured, tagged and stored via Dartfish and Dartfish TV for all identified international competition
3. Organize statistical data and deliver it to SAS for input and analysis, as instructed by the High Performance Director / Head Coach – WNT
4. Act as the primary conduit / lead with SAS, as required, collaborating to identify and validate performance metrics, develop dashboards for data visualization and interpret outputs for communication to the coaching staff
5. Prepare video and statistical / analysis reports – including recommendations – for the coaching staff in preparation for meetings, debriefs, evaluations and Own the Podium (OTP) related projects
- Including updates to individual athlete profiles and the Softball Canada Podium Pathway tool (Gold Medal Profile and Winning Style of Play)
- Be available for and participate in these meetings, debriefs and evaluations as requested
6. Purchase, maintain and supervise the use of performance analysis hardware, software and related databases / dashboards
7. Liaise with COC Games PA Lead to explore opportunities unique to Games environment and ensure optimal PA workflows are leveraged and tested
8. Professional development activities, as determined by the High-Performance Director / Head Coach – WNT
9. General team duties / other duties as assigned
