Eight Softball Canada Umpires Receive WBSC Certification

Ottawa, Ont. - Softball Canada is pleased to announce that eight Canadian umpires have been successful in obtaining international certification with the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) at recent certification seminars held in London, Ont. and Barrie, Ont.

The new international umpires are:

The seminars involved classroom sessions, rules and fitness testing and on-field evaluations. Twenty-four (24) umpires from Softball Canada and USA Softball participated in the two seminars.

“These umpires have worked hard to be successful at the elite level and have proven themselves to be among the best in the world” noted Softball Canada's National Director of Umpires Jeff Whipple. “We are proud to have them join our international ranks and look forward to having them represent us the international level in the future”.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation is the world sport governing body for softball. International umpire certification makes officials eligible for World Cups and other WBSC sanctioned international competitions, including the Olympic Games.
