Softball Canada is saddened to learn of the passing of Ed Bitz - the first Softball Canada National Director of Umpires - on July 26th.

Bitz was inducted into the Softball Canada Hall of Fame as a builder in 1991, and was subsequently inducted to the WBSC Softball Hall of Fame as an Umpire in 1993. He was an icon in Softball Canada's national umpire program and the program's scholarship already bears his name.
