Brantford, Ont. – Rawlings Sports Canada and Softball Canada have taken major steps to increase the equipment and the technology used by the National Teams representing Canada around the world in the sport of softball.

“We’ve always been involved with Softball Canada’s National Teams but we’ve always felt like we can do more with the coaches and the players to ensure they have the best equipment in the game as they are competing with the best in the world every year” stated Jason Shipley – Canadian Business Unit Manager at Rawlings Sports Canada. “By working closer together during training and having better communication we can ensure the proper equipment is used by our athletes to give them the best opportunities to win at all events. Bat technology is one of the most rapid changing industries in sport, it’s important to us that Team Canada always has the best.”

This new agreement allows Rawlings and Softball Canada to work closer together to ensure Canada’s National Teams have a unified look and are using the best equipment available in the game. As the Exclusive Equipment Supplier, Rawlings will be tasked with supplying helmets, bags, batting gloves, fielding gloves, catcher’s gear and bats to the National Teams for international play.

"The Women’s National Team appreciates Rawlings’ continued support in our quest to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games” said Mark Smith, Softball Canada’s High-Performance Director and Women’s National Team Head Coach. “We look forward to continuing to build on our long-term relationship with Rawlings and our team will benefit from using their products.”

“We appreciate everything Rawlings Sports Canada has done for our program over the last several years and we’re very pleased to see them step up to the plate and supply our team with equipment for the foreseeable future” stated John Stuart, Head Coach of Canada’s Men’s National Team. “Our goal is to reclaim Gold at next year’s WBSC World Championship and Rawlings’ strong commitment to Men’s Softball will help us reach that goal.”

Canada is currently ranked #3 in the WBSC World Rankings for Women’s Softball and #2 in Men’s Softball. As the Men’s and Women’s programs prepare for a busy 2019 season, it’s very important for them to have the best equipment and Rawlings will ensure they have exactly what they need when they hit the diamond in 2019. The Men’s National Team will compete at the WBSC World Championship, while the Women’s National Team will play at the Canada Cup, the 2019 Pan American Games and the WBSC Americas Olympic Qualifier with the goal of qualifying for a berth at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
