Prince Albert, Sask. - The Quick Story:
Team Canada kicked off Placement Round play with a 4-3 win over Dominican Republic at the 2025 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup. After a back-and-forth battle in the early innings, Canada answered with a pair of key runs in the fifth and held off a late surge by Dominican Republic to secure the victory.
Key Moment:
Down by one in the bottom of the fifth, Canada broke through with a timely offensive push. Blake Hunter laid down a sacrifice bunt bringing Nick White home to tie the score. Ty Sebastian followed with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Bryan Abrey to take the lead. Strong pitching in the final frames sealed the win for the red and white.
Notes:
- Bryan Abrey had a solid night at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, and two runs scored.
- Nick White doubled and scored twice.
- Blake Hunter went 2-for-2, with 2 RBIs and drove in the run to tie the game.
- Max Major went 2-for-3.

- Devon McCullough started and threw 4.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 5.
- Sean Cleary came in relief, pitching 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 7.
