Hermosillo, Mexico – The Canadian U18 Men’s National Team shut out Colombia 10-0 in four innings to earn its third win of the U18 Men’s World Cup on Tuesday. Canada scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning highlighted by a grand slam by Nolan Bultena (Arthur, Ont.).
 
Owen Bilinsky (Port Dover, Ont.) got things started for Canada with a single to lead off the bottom of the first and he immediately scored on a two-run homerun by Cam Weatherbee (Brookfield, N.S.). Team Canada proceeded to load the bases with an error and two walks before Bultena connected with his grand slam to center. Danny Scott (Stratford, Ont.) followed with a single and Riley Good (Wingham, Ont.) was hit by a pitch, with Bilinsky scoring Scott on a single and Weatherbee hitting a sacrifice fly to score Good as Canada took an early 8-0 lead.
 
In the second, Canada quickly loaded the bases on singles by Joe Weiler (Hepworth, Ont.) and Alex McGillivray (Durham, Ont.) followed by a walk to Sharl Leclerc (Sainte-Claire, Que.). After a double play retired the two lead runners, a walk loaded the bases again before Good brought a run home with a hit by pitch and Bilinsky drove in another with an infield single.
 
Cohen Christner (New Hamburg, Ont.) started the game in the circle for Canada and did not allow a hit in three innings of work, issuing one walk and hitting a batter while striking out four. Nic Neid (Terrace, B.C.) pitched a scoreless fourth with one walk and two strikeouts to end the game on the run rule.

The win improved Canada’s record to 3-1 and clinched a spot in the Super Round. The red and white will finish the preliminary round against Australia (3-1) at 2:00pm local time (4:00pm EST) on Wednesday. In other action on Tuesday, Japan beat Venezuela 10-3, the United States blanked Argentina 2-0, the Czechia defeated Singapore 13-3 and Mexico beat Australia 6-1.
