Ottawa, Ont. – Softball Canada and the Women’s National Team coaching staff are pleased to announce the Canadian Women’s National Team roster that will compete at the 2022 World Games from July 9-13, 2022 in Birmingham, Ala.
 
The athletes were selected by the Women’s National Team coaching staff pursuant to the Women’s National team Selection Criteria, which included a series of open identification camps, a selection camp held two weeks ago, scouting at the university/college level and past performances.
 
Team Canada (No. 3 in the WBSC World Rankings) will open the World Games on July 9th against No. 6 Chinese Taipei at 1:00pm CDT, followed by No. 7 Italy the following day at 1:00pm CDT and against the United States (No. 1) at 7:00pm CDT on July 11th. The other pool includes Japan (No. 2), Mexico (No. 4), Puerto Rico (No. 5) and Australia (No. 8). The top two teams from each pool will advance to the semi-finals.
 
Team Canada recently completed their Celebration Tour stops in Ontario, going 4-0 in a series against the No.10 Netherlands. The team is currently in Surrey, B.C. for the Canada Cup that will begin tonight against the Aussie Spirit Development team at 6:00pm PDT. The Canada Cup will run until June 26, followed by another Celebration Tour series against No. 11 Czech Republic in Saskatchewan next week (June 29 to July 1) prior to travelling to Birmingham for the World Games.
