Ten-Runs in the Fourth Propels Canada to Second Win at XI Pan American Women’s Championship

Montería, Colombia - The Quick Story:  

Team Canada continued its strong start at the XI Pan American Women’s Championship, notching a 14–1 win over host Colombia to improve to 2–0 in the tournament. The offense exploded in the fourth, scoring 10 runs, while pitchers Morgan Rackel and Dawn Bodrug combined to allow just one hit in the game. 

Key Moment:  

Canada jumped out early with four runs in the first, but it was the fourth inning that secured the win. Capitalizing on walks, hit batters, and timely hitting, Canada sent 14 batters to the plate and tacked on 10 runs to put the game out of reach. Both CC Wong and Erika Polidori accounted for ten of Canada’s fourteen runs either by scoring or driving them in.  

Notes:  

  • CC Wong had a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and scoring two runs. 
  • Erika Polidori went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. 
  • Nine of Canada’s baserunners reached via walk or hit-by-pitch 
  • Morgan Rackel earned the win, throwing three strong innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five. 
  • Dawn Bodrug closed it out with a clean final inning, allowing no hits.
