Level IV umpires are the first step in Softball Canada’s national elite umpire program, providing the core of our local and provincial leadership. They can also be considered for appointment as Umpires-in-Chief (UIC) and Deputy Umpires-in-Chief (DUIC) at Canadian Championships.
“We are extremely proud of this new group of emerging national leaders”, notes National Director of Umpires, Jeff Whipple. “Like any program, we are constantly in need of new passion and ideas and this group has proven they can deliver, both on and off the field.”
To be considered for a Level IV appointment, an umpire must be a fully certified Level III for a minimum of two seasons, have attended the Level IV-Theory clinic and have a satisfactory performance at the U19 Women’s / U20 Men’s Fast Pitch Canadian Championship or the Women’s / Men’s Slo-Pitch Canadian Championship.
