The 2023 Canadian Championships are now underway, with nine different cities playing host to the crowning of this year’s Canadian Champions. Throughout the past six months, we have been highlighting these host cities and all they have to offer when August came around.

The 2023 Men’s and Women’s Canadian Slo-Pitch Championships from August 13-19, in Dorchester, Ont., at Slo-Pitch City, are ready to welcome the best slo-pitch players across Canada.

Dorchester is very familiar with hosting these Canadian Championships, having last hosted this event back-to-back in 2011 and 2012, and then again in 2015.

Slo-Pitch City is located 20 minutes east of London and includes eight diamonds surrounded by lush forest and spectacular scenery, a large outdoor patio to enjoy while the games are happening, an indoor dining establishment and an outdoor barbeque.

“We are excited to be welcoming Softball Canada and the 20 Men’s and 13 Women’s slo-pitch teams, and their families, friends, and fans from across Canada, back to the London area for this year’s Canadian Championships. The competition will be fierce as these teams battle it out on the diamonds for their chance to be champions, and earn the highest recognition offered in slo-pitch in this country,” said Tom Buchan, Chief Executive Officer of Slo-Pitch Ontario.  “We wish all the teams the best of luck, and we can’t wait to cheer on our nine amazing Ontario Teams!”

The host for this event is Slo-Pitch Ontario, with the host teams being Global Simcoe Paving Brydon Dbacks for the men and Silent Partner/Pinebrush Physiotherapy/Sports Excellence Gryphons for the women.

Located only 20 minutes from Dorchester, London is worth the drive to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tournament. If you’re looking to seek a different kind of adrenaline rush other than the slo-pitch, then take a trip to Boler Mountain. This outdoor attraction is equipped with rope swings, zipline, swinging bridges, and challenging rope courses.

If you’re looking to take part in something historic, be sure to check out Banting House, where Sir Frederick Banting had his inspirational moment that led to discovery of insulin back in 1920.

“We are extremely excited to have 20 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams from across the country playing in this event”, said Mike Branchaud, CEO, Softball Canada. “Many of these players have been part of or will be part of our Border Battle teams. This is the best slo-pitch event in Canada.”
