13 March 2023 Emma Lindblad

Ottawa, Ont.  Softball Canada is pleased to announce twenty-two (22) athletes who have been named to the Women’s National Team Athlete Pool for the 2023 season. The list was put together by the coaching staff consisting of head coach Kaleigh Rafter (Guelph, Ont.) and assistant coaches Chris Jones (Oshawa, Ont.) and Jenn Salling (Port Coquitlam, B.C.). Team Canada had a successful 2022 season, winning the silver medal at the WBSC Americas Pan American Championship, which secured the team a spot in Group C of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage and the 2023 Pan American Games.

As per the Women’s National Team Selection Criteria, athletes named to the Women’s National Team Athlete Pool are eligible to be invited to Women’s National Team training, development and selection camps and international events. This year’s major events include the Canada Cup (July 10-16 in Surrey, B.C.), the WBSC World Cup Group Stage (July 22-26 in Italy), and the 2023 Pan American Games (October 30 to November 4 in Santiago, Chile). The full competition schedule will be announced at a later date.

For athletes not named to the athlete pool, open ID Camps will be held for the Women’s National Team in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, & Ontario beginning in May. Athletes identified at these camps will be eligible to be invited to the Final Selection Camp. Click here for registration information.

Athletes may be added or removed from the National Team Athlete Pool at any time at the coaching staff’s discretion.
