Ottawa, Ont. – Softball Canada is pleased to announce that Doug Allin (Peachland, B.C.) has been named Head Coach of the Men’s National Team program following an open application process and interviews conducted by the Men’s National Team coach selection panel.
“We are pleased to name Doug Allin as Head Coach of the Men’s National Team” stated Gilles LeBlanc, Manager of Operations at Softball Canada. “Doug has been involved with the Men’s program for over a decade and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the program. We look forward to working with him to continue pushing our program forward on the international stage.”
Doug Allin began his National Team involvement as a scout at the 2015 and 2017 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cups and moved into to an assistant coach position for the 2019 and 2022 Men’s World Cup cycles, as well as the World Games in 2025. He was named Head Coach of the inaugural U23 Men’s National Team for the 2023 WBSC World Cup and recently completed his second cycle at the helm in 2026. Allin was also an Associate Coach for Canada at the 2026 Men’s Pan American Championship held earlier this year in Colombia. He is a Competition – Development Certified coach who is currently a member of Softball Canada’s Coach Development Committee.
With the addition of Doug, the Men’s National Team coach selection panel will now shift its focus towards identifying pool coaches for both the Men’s and U23 Men’s National Team programs.
Canada has qualified for the 2028 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Group Stage following a fourth-place finish at the 2026 WBSC Americas Pan American Championship held in February.
