Ottawa, Ont. – Softball Canada is pleased to announce the addition of Ben Lungo as Manager, Communications and Marketing, along with Eric Dissanayake as Summer Intern for 2026.
Ben joins the organization with a decade of experience in communications, marketing, and digital media, primarily in the sport sector. He most recently served as Manager, Digital Strategy and Communications at Ontario Soccer, where he led media relations, digital growth and brand storytelling. Previously, he served as Media Relations Officer with the City of Ottawa where he supported corporate communications, public affairs and media relations during high-profile public issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Freedom Trucker Convoy and the Rideau Street Sinkhole.
In his new role, Ben will oversee communications strategy, marketing, and digital content to help grow the visibility of softball across Canada.
Joining him this summer is Eric Dissanayake, a University of Ottawa graduate student pursuing a Master of Human Kinetics in Sport Management, after completing an Honours Bachelor of Commerce. He brings a strong background in sport leadership and communications, having served as Co-President of the Student-Athlete Council, worked as a sports commentator for Gee-Gees broadcasts, and contributed to sport media coverage as a writer. Through previous roles with organizations including Health Canada and Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, Eric has also developed experience in communications, data analysis and stakeholder engagement that will be invaluable to Softball Canada.
"Ben is a sport leader with a proven ability to elevate organizations through compelling storytelling, strong partnerships and innovative digital engagement," said Mike Branchaud, CEO of Softball Canada. "Beyond his communications expertise, he brings the leadership, vision and collaborative approach that will help us continue growing the profile of softball and strengthening connections with our members, partners and fans from coast-to-coast. We're also delighted to welcome Eric, whose impressive blend of sport leadership and communications experience will be a valuable addition to our team this summer."
