Join Heather as she provides examples from her own developmental pathway regarding the lessons she has learned on her path from athlete to National Team coach. She'll share the keys to coaching success and share how to build a successful program.
|7:05pm - 8:20pm||SESSION #2A - BLUEPRINT FOR AN ELITE HITTER
During this session, Jeff will walk you through the minds of the games greats hitter (Mullaley, Shailes, Gonzalez and more). You will learn what these great hitters do to prepare for a full season of international play. Jeff will outline an eight (8) month seasonal plan covering prep work, video analysis of common faults & fixes, situational hitting, hitting with a plan, information collection, picking pitchers and much more.

|10:00am - 11:00am||SESSION #5A - RESILIENCY, GRIT & MENTAL TOUGHNESS
When it comes to experiencing adversity, there are several terms that tend to get used interchangeably: mental toughness, grit and resilience. Come and learn from Dr. Toogood what the differences are between these qualities, why they are important to develop in your players and practical examples of how you can train these qualities in practice and game settings. You will also learn how to monitor the development of these qualities over the course of your season and what your role is in that development.

|11:15am - 12:15pm||SESSION #6A - BREAKING DOWN COMMON SOFTBALL INJURIES
Join Dr. Kaila Holtz as she reviews common acute and chronic overuse softball injuries. In this session she will review factors that contribute to overuse injuries including biomechanics, throwing volume and sport specialization. Finally she will share the off-season arm care program and in-season coaching strategies she uses with her pitchers to reduce overuse injury risk.

|1:30pm - 2:30pm||SESSION #7A - RUNNING A GREAT BULL PEN SESSION
Want to know what do you do in your practice sessions with your pitchers and catchers? Join Cindy as she provides insights into what makes a great bull pen session with drills and games you can incorporate into your pitching practice to help develop both your pitcher's and catcher's skills. Learn how you can monitor their progress in practice and over the season so that you know your players are getting better.
|2:30pm - 3:30pm||SESSION #8A - THE MENTAL GAME
In this session, all aspects of the mental side of the game will be covered. This includes what athletes should be doing or thinking: prior to the game, during the warm-up, when different game situations arise. You will learn how to help your athletes develop short term memory loss. Jeff will share examples collected from athletes of all levels and in all different situations.

|3:45pm - 4:45pm||SESSION #9A - STRATEGIES AND TACTICS: THE WHAT, WHEN AND WHYS
Many coaches know what the strategies and tactics are in the game. But the great coaches know when and why to use them. Join Cindy as she explains what factors should go into your decision-making during games both defensively and offensively for team success. Cindy will take it a step further by breaking down the skills needed to implement these tactics and how you can train them in practice.
|4:45pm - 5:45pm||SESSION #10A - WHAT LEARNING RESEARCH TELLS US ABOUT PRACTICE PLANNING
Cindy will highlight what new research is telling us about practice planning, learning and making practice fun! Concepts like Block Practice and Random practice will be discussed for all skills including pitching.

|7:00pm - 8:30pm||MENTORING SESSIONS
Round #1 (30 mins): Each table will be assigned a topic, a facilitator for that topic and a recorder to take notes. Each table will be numbered. Coaches will pick the table/topic they are interested in for Round #1. Facilitator at each table will lead discussions (ask questions, provide info, engage coaches at table) regarding the topic for 30 minutes. A recorder will take notes regarding the discussions/answers and these notes will be shared after the event.
|8:30pm - 10:00pm||COACHES SOCIAL EVENT & TRADE SHOW
Softball Summit participants are invited to stay and socialize with other participants over a drink and snacks as they visit the tables of our Tradeshow Exhibitors. We will be drawing for various prizes and some exhibitors will be offering Show Specials available to only those in attendance.
