During this session, Jeff will walk you through the minds of the games greats hitter (Mullaley, Shailes, Gonzalez and more). You will learn what these great hitters do to prepare for a full season of international play.  Jeff will outline an eight (8) month seasonal plan covering prep work, video analysis of common faults & fixes, situational hitting, hitting with a plan, information collection, picking pitchers and much more.

10:00am - 11:00am SESSION #5C - RESILIENCY, GRIT & MENTAL TOUGHNESS 

When it comes to experiencing adversity, there are several terms that tend to get used interchangeably: mental toughness, grit and resilience. Come and learn from Dr. Toogood what the differences are between these qualities, why they are important to develop in your players and practical examples of how you can train these qualities in practice and game settings. You will also learn how to monitor the development of these qualities over the course of your season and what your role is in that development.

The secret to strong retention of players and families is providing strong coaching. Lise Jubinville, Softball Canada Manager of Coaching Services and Jean Boyd, Softball BC programme coordinator will explain how, with the assistance of the Coaching Association of Canada and NCCP training, your club can develop great coaches at every level.

Financial risk management & fraud protection. Money to run programs is hard to come by, this session will show you ways you can help protect your club from fraudsters and thieves. What happens if your club is the victim of a theft? This session will offer ways to protect your club from a variety of potentially catastrophic situations.

2:30pm - 3:30pm SESSION #8C - CAAWS WOMEN ON BOARDS FOR ORGANIZATIONS WORKSHOP

This workshop, created by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), will provide insightful information on how to create an inclusive Board culture, on the value of women on your Board and on strategies to assist in overcoming some of the challenges of recruiting more women.

3:45pm - 4:45pm SESSION #9C - 3 KEYS TO PLAYER AND COACH RETENTION IN YOUR ORGANIZATION

How do we build and maintain healthy softball clubs? This session will examine three key areas, early player development programmes, strong coach training with the coach development committee and how to bring softball into the schools.

4:45pm - 5:45pm SESSION #10C - MAKING TOURNAMENTS GREAT - HOW TO MAKE YOUR TOURNAMENT A "MUST ATTEND" EVENT FOR EVERY TEAM (PANEL DISCUSSION)

We have assembled four experts in running great tournaments, who will share their ideas and experience. For both the new and veteran tournament directors, sharing ideas on finding sponsors, getting your community involved, those added pieces that make the event special, how to plan a draw and what to do when something inevitably goes wrong. The panel includes two long time softball tournament organizers, Jake DeWitt and Dave Harris, Robyn Hughes from Richmond Sport Hosting, an expert on grants, sponsorship and working with your community and Kyle Williams, currently the Championships Coordinator for Baseball BC. He is responsible for coordinating all aspects of provincial championship tournaments including: scheduling, rules, discipline, and eligibility. He also trains and supervises on-site Technical Directors to administer tournaments. Kyle brings 20 years of experience within the baseball community to his role that includes umpiring, coaching, and administrative roles on local community association executives as well as with provincial organizations. Kyle is an elementary school teacher in Coquitlam.

7:00pm - 8:30pm MENTORING SESSIONS

Round #1 (30 mins): Each table will be assigned a topic, a facilitator for that topic and a recorder to take notes. Each table will be numbered. Coaches will pick the table/topic they are interested in for Round #1. Facilitator at each table will lead discussions (ask questions, provide info, engage coaches at table) regarding the topic for 30 minutes. A recorder will take notes regarding the discussions/answers and these notes will be shared after the event.
Round #2 (30 mins): Coaches select another topic and move to that table to discuss that topic for another 30 minutes.

 
8:30pm - 10:00pm COACHES SOCIAL EVENT AND TRADE SHOW

Softball Summit participants are invited to stay and socialize with other participants over a drink and snacks as they visit the tables of our Tradeshow Exhibitors. We will be drawing for various prizes and some exhibitors will be offering Show Specials available to only those in attendance.
