2026 WBSC Women's Softball World Cup Group Stage - Game 4 and 5

Prague, Czechia — After opening the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage with a perfect 3-0 record, Team Canada split a doubleheader on Friday, falling 10-0 to Chinese Taipei before bouncing back with a 14-1 run-rule victory over Czechia.

Game 1: Chinese Taipei 10, Canada 0

Chinese Taipei used an explosive first inning and consistent offensive pressure to hand Canada its first loss of the tournament, 10-0 in four innings.

Canada recorded five hits, with Kelsey Harshman and Emma Entzminger each posting multi-hit efforts, but the team was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities. A threat in the fourth inning saw Canada load the bases, but they could not push a run across.

Chinese Taipei jumped ahead early with five runs in the opening frame and never looked back. Ting-En Chiang drove in four runs to lead the offense, while Chia-Wen Shen and Chia-Yi Chen contributed multi-hit performances in a 13-hit attack.

Morgan Rackel was charged with the loss, while Morgan Grace Reimer and Sara Groenewegen worked in relief.

Game 2: Canada 14, Czechia 1

Canada responded in emphatic fashion against the host nation, scoring 14 runs on 15 hits to secure a five-inning victory.

Erika Polidori powered the offence with four RBIs, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple in the second inning. Caitlyn CC Wong added three RBIs, including a home run, while Avery Tucker and Natalie Wideman also went deep as Canada showcased its power throughout the lineup.

Janet Leung reached base in all three plate appearances and scored twice, and Kelsey Harshman added two RBIs and drew a pair of walks.

Canada broke the game open with a three-run second inning before erupting for five runs in the third to take full control. The offence capped the performance with another four runs in the fifth.

In the circle, Dawn Bodrug delivered a strong complete-game effort, allowing one run on five hits while striking out two.
