OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Team Canada split its final two round-robin games at the 2026 USA Softball International Cup, dropping a hard-fought 10-7 decision to the United States on Friday before bouncing back with a convincing 9-1 victory over Australia on Saturday to finish round-robin play with a 2-1 record.
Canada 7 – 10 United States
Canada came out swinging against the United States, building a 5-0 first-inning lead. Kianna Jones (Surrey, B.C.), Logan Forman (Brantford, Ont.), Nicole Rivait (Milton, Ont.), and Caitlyn Wong (Coquitlam, B.C.) all drove in runs during the inning, with Rivait providing the biggest blow with a two-run double.
After the Americans narrowed the deficit to 5-2, Canada restored a four-run cushion in the fourth inning when Kelsey Harshman (Delta, B.C.) singled home Erika Polidori (Brantford, Ont.) to make it 6-2.
The momentum shifted in the bottom half of the inning as the United States scored six runs to take an 8-6 lead. The hosts added two more runs in the sixth, including a solo home run by Janae Jefferson, before holding off a late Canadian rally to secure the win.
Rivait led the offence with a 2-for-2 performance, two RBIs and a double, while Canada showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks.
Canada 9 – 1 Australia
The Canadians responded emphatically on Saturday, scoring six runs in the second inning en route to a 9-1 victory over Australia.
After opening the scoring on an Australian error in the first inning, Canada erupted in the second. Avery Tucker (Edmonton, Alta.), Polidori, Harshman, and Jones all drove in runs during the frame, while another Australian error and a sacrifice fly from Grace Messmer (Surrey, B.C.) helped the Canadians break the game open.
Canada added two more runs in the third inning, highlighted by a triple from Paige Simpson (Elnora, Alta.).
Dawn Bodrug (Georgetown, Ont.) earned the start in the circle and allowed just one unearned run on one hit over three innings while striking out three. Annabel Teperson (Campbell River, B.C.) followed with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out three without allowing a hit.
At the plate, Logan Forman and Harshman each collected two hits, while Jones led the team with two RBIs. Tucker also stole two bases in the victory.
