Sincelejo, Colombia – The Quick Story:
The Canadian U23 Men’s National Team scored three runs in the first and went on to beat Colombia 5-2 at the 2026 WBSC U23 Men’s Softball World Cup to finish 8th place in the tournament.
Key Moments:
Team Canada got off to a strong start by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning after Adrian Green and Connor Brooks hit back-to-back doubles followed by a two-run homerun by Aidan Yarde. Colombia battled back by scoring two runs in the second, and the score remained the same until Canada added two insurance runs to its lead on a sacrifice fly by Green and a single by Brooks to make the score 5-2.
Notes:
- Will Schlotzhauer pitched the first three innings, allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
- Nic Neid closed out the last four innings to pick up the win, allowing only one hit and striking out ten.
- Connor Brooks doubled, singled and drove in two runs for Canada, with Blake Brubacher also collecting two hits.
- Aidan Yarde hit a two-run homerun, and Adrian Green added a double and a run batted in.
