2026 U23 Men's World Cup - Game 3

2026 U23 Men's World Cup - Game 3

27 April 2026 Gilles LeBlanc

Sincelejo, Colombia – The Quick Story:

The Canadian U23 Men’s National Team had two late game rallies but ultimately came out on the losing end of a 7-6 game in an extra inning against Mexico at the 2026 WBSC U23 Men’s World Cup on Monday.

Key Moments:

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth without a hit off Carlos Parra, Canada drew a pair of walks before Connor Brooks connected with a huge three-run homerun to get Canada into the hit column and tied on the scoreboard. After neither team scored in the seventh, Mexico was able to put up four runs in the top of the eighth. Trailing by four and with a runner starting on second due to the international tiebreaker rule, Canada forced another walk before Nick White drilled another three-run homerun to pull Canada back within one. A walk and a hit by pitch put two runners on base without any outs, but a pair of fielder’s choices and a fly out to right put an end to Canada’s late inning push.

Notes:

  • Canada made its two hits count, with Brooks and White each delivering three-run homeruns.
  • Max Major and Adrian Green each drew two walks, with Brooks and Alex McGilivray each getting one.
  • Nic Neid took the loss for Canada, allowing seven runs (six earned) on five hits with five strikeouts.
Box Score: Mexico 7 vs. Canada 6

Team Canada (1-2) will look to get back into the win column with a game against Singapore (0-3) at 5:00pm COT (6:00pm EDT) on Tuesday.
