2025 U23 Men’s Pan American Championship – Game 6

La Pampa, Argentina - The Quick Story:   

Team Canada earned their fourth win of the preliminary round at the 2025 WBSC Americas U23 Men’s Pan American Championship, defeating the United States 4-2. Timely hitting throughout the game combined with a great pitching performance from Nic Neid helped Canada secure the victory and improve their record to 4-2. With one game remaining in the preliminary round, Canada looks to finish with a 5-2 record as they face Venezuela tomorrow.

Key Moment:   

Canada opened the score in the bottom of the first when Mason McKay walked, Connor Brooks singled, and Mac Mulvey’s fielder’s choice brought Mason McKay home, giving Canada an early 1-0 lead. Canada added to their lead in the third with two outs, Nick White singled, Connor Brooks drew a walk, and Max Major’s RBI single made it 2-0. A wild pitch then allowed Brooks to score, pushing the lead to 3-0. The United States applied pressure by scoring two runs in the seventh inning, but Canada held firm and secured a 4-2 win.

Notes:   

  • Max Major went 2-for-3 with two singles, drove in a run, and scored once.
  • Connor Brooks went 1-for-1 with a single and scored a run.
  • Alex McGillivray went 1-for-3, recording an RBI single in the sixth inning.

  • Nic Neid took the start in the circle, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and striking out 8.
