PART FIVE – UMPIRES AT CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
ARTICLE 1 – SELECTION PROCESS
1.1 Selection
a) The National Director of Umpires of Softball Canada shall select umpires for Canadian Championships using the following procedure:
i) They shall receive nominations from the provincial/ territorial association and its Umpire–in–Chief by May 1 of the Championship year.
ii) They shall determine that the nominated umpire:
a) Is a registered affiliate umpire.
b) Has been affiliated nationally during the preceding two years.
c) Has been evaluated at a provincial/territorial tournament by the association’s Umpire–in–Chief during the year prior to their nomination. This evaluation must accompany the nomination.
d) If nominated for a Slo–Pitch Canadian Championship, is qualified and experienced in Slo-Pitch.
1.2 Right of Refusal
The National Director of Umpires of Softball Canada shall have the right to refuse a provincial/territorial umpire nomination if that umpire has attended a previous Canadian Championship.
ARTICLE 2 – REGULATIONS
2.1 Umpires working in Canadian Championships must wear the uniform and follow established written guidelines as outlined by Softball Canada.
a) The rules and regulations for Umpires-in-Chief at Canadian Championships must be defined in writing (to ensure proper procedures are followed at all Canadian Championships), and must be made available to all concerned prior to the staging of the Canadian Championships.
