President's Message
On behalf of Softball Canada, our Board of Directors, and dedicated Staff, I would like to thank you for your commitment to our sport and your interest in our 2022-2023 official rule book. We appreciate the fact that you are reading this rule book with continued interest in growing your knowledge and insight to our great game.
Not unlike our Officiating Development Committee which encompasses this rule book initiative, Softball Canada continues to be inspired by our constant growth in our programming across Canada. We are particularly excited about our ongoing efforts in Safe Sport, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as our Female Coaching and Officiating Mentorship program. We will continue to maintain focus on our core values, offering fair and inclusive opportunities for everyone, while operating with respect and integrity.
Whether it’s Timbits, Canpitch, or our world class Coaching Development Committee, we continue to be committed to enhancing all opportunities that allow us to succeed in leadership, development, and participation in softball.
The upcoming season brings us great opportunity to showcase our game at our many Slo-Pitch and Fastpitch Canadian Championships that will be hosted across the country. Every Canadian Championship is a perfect example of how a group of dedicated volunteers, P/Ts and our Softball Canada team can help contribute to lasting memories for so many players, coaches, officials, and fans alike.
On the world stage, our National Teams will continue to build off the momentum created by the incredible efforts of our Women’s National Team capturing our first ever Olympic medal. Softball Canada will continue our devotion and increased efforts in helping achieve and maintain our goal of making our entire membership “Podium Proud”.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt “thank you” to all Provinces, Territories, softball staffs, coaches, officials, as well as countless volunteers across Canada. Your dedicated and ongoing efforts over these last two incredibly challenging years are truly appreciated. It is this team mindset and the ability to work together that will continue to be a critical component in helping Softball Canada achieve our goal to be regarded as a world leader in the game of softball!
I am both incredibly excited and optimistic that this upcoming softball season will provide us many opportunities that will reinforce why we as Canadians are so passionate about our great game.
I hope Softball Canada’s rule book provides you with the information or learning you have set out to find!
Have a great season!
Yours in Softball – Scott Neiles (He/Him, il/lui)
President, Softball Canada
