The Officials Development Committee for Softball Canada is please to announce its first National Education Online course for the 2026 season! With the beginning of Online Theory Lessons, there will now be 2 parts to Level 1 Certification.

The 2 parts to Level 1 Umpire Certification now involve the following:

    Step 1 – Complete the 9 Lessons of Level 1 Certification

• Prior to attending a Face-to-Face Provincial Clinic, each registered Level 1 umpire is required to complete all 9 lessons of the theory training. The lessons are all separate so they can be completed in multiple sittings, and each one includes an assessment at the end which must be completed to receive credit for completing the lesson.

    Step 2 – Register for a Level 1 Face to Face Provincial Clinic.

• Register to attend your Provincial Level 1 Clinic. Here you will be able to complete your Level 1 training as well as pay your certification fees. See your Provincial Umpire information for a Level 1 Provincial Clinic near you!

Once a lesson has been completed and the assessment at the end of the lesson has been completed successfully, an email will be sent to the umpire as well as your Provincial Umpire Committee and Softball Canada. After the last lesson, an email with a completion certificate will be emailed to the umpire to show at the Provincial Clinic to the instructors that all lessons are completed.
