Ottawa, Ont. – Softball Canada is proud to announce the U18 Women’s National Team selected to represent Canada at the 2026 WBSC U18 Women’s Pan American Championship, taking place November 21–28, 2026, in San Salvador, El Salvador.
“We have a great mix of athletes who have previous Team Canada experience and new players earning their first opportunity to wear the Maple Leaf” said Keith Mackintosh, Head Coach, U18 Women’s National Team. “That combination brings experience, energy and a lot of potential to this group, and we’re excited to see what they can accomplish together in El Salvador.”
The 16 athletes selected represent Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario and the event will feature 18 nations from across the Americas: Argentina, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada (4), Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, the United States (2), Guatemala, Honduras, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mexico (6), Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico (3), the Dominican Republic and Venezuela (12).
The team will be led by Keith Mackintosh (SK), Melissa Basilio (ON), Kaitlyn Cameron (BC) and support staff Nikki Antonopoulos (ON), and Angela Ballantyne (ON). The coaching staff brings a strong mix of high-performance, national team and player development experience, providing the athletes with a well-rounded group of coaches as they prepare to compete on the international stage in El Salvador.
Canada enters the championship with recent success at the U18 level. At the 2024 WBSC U18 Women’s Pan American Championship in Montería, Colombia, Canada captured a silver medal after going undefeated through the Super Round before falling 2–1 to Puerto Rico in extra innings in the gold medal game. Canada then competed at the 2024 WBSC U18 Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage in Dallas, Texas, finishing second in Group C and qualifying for the World Cup Finals in Oklahoma City in 2025 were they finished 5th overall.
