Softball Canada Announces 2025 Men’s National Team Athlete Pool

Ottawa, Ont. – Softball Canada is pleased to announce the list of thirty-four (34) athletes who have been named to the 2025 Men’s National Team Athlete Pool, representing a current snapshot of the Men’s National Team program along with an increased focus on the next generation of athletes for future cycles. 

The coaching staff consisting of head coach John Stuart (Merritt, B.C.) and assistant coaches Jeff Ellsworth (St. Lawrence, P.E.I.), Les Howey (Conception Bay South, N.L.) and Mark Quinn (Mermaid, P.E.I.) have invited twenty-three (23) of these athletes to attend the Men’s National Team Selection Camp that will be held April 30 to May 4, 2025 at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Fla. 

The Athlete Pool features thirteen (13) athletes who won the silver medal at the 2022 Men’s World Cup, and an additional six (6) athletes who competed at the 2024 World Cup Group B event. 

The U23 Men’s National Team will be announced at a later date, with those athletes also considered part of the Men’s National Team program. 

The Canadian Men’s National Team finished third at the 2024 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Group Stage B in Prince Albert and earned a spot in the 2025 World Cup Finals as the host country. 

The eight qualifying teams from the three 2024 World Cup Group Stage events – No. 1 Australia, No. 2 Argentina, No. 3 Japan, No. 4 Canada, No. 5 Venezuela, No. 6 United States, No. 8 New Zealand and No.11 Dominican Republic – will compete at the 2025 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals from July 8-13 in Prince Albert, Sask. The Canadian Men’s National Team will also participate at the 2025 World Games from August 6-10 in Chengdu, China.

Men’s National Team Athlete Representative Kevin Schellenberg (Squamish, B.C.) will also participate in the Selection Camp. 

Athletes named to the Men’s National Team Athlete Pool are eligible to be invited to Men’s National Team training, development and selection camps. Athletes may be added or removed from the National Team Athlete Pool at any time at the coaching staff’s discretion.
