Ottawa, Ont. - Softball Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Chadwick (Assiniboia, Sask.) to a two-year term on the National Officiating Development Committee, effective October 1. Geneviève Gaudreau (Montreal, Que.) and Sandra Forand (Welland, Ont.) were re-appointed to two year terms.
“The commitment these three bring to the committee is matched by the experience they offer” notes National Director of Umpires Jeff Whipple. “With our continued focus on umpire development programming, all three have backgrounds as professional educators. We look forward to their contributions over the next couple of years”.
The ODC is made up of seven members, including the National Director of Umpires and six Deputy Umpires in Chief. The committee is responsible for coordinating umpire programming across the country, including national education, certification, testing and assessments, staffing Canadian Championship and international assignments.
Softball Canada wants to acknowledge the dedication and contributions of outgoing ODC member Susan Strafford (Burnaby, B.C.), who completed her second two-year term. "Susan has been particularly integral into the development of many of our digital products, including the national exam and other data collection and reporting tools" notes Whipple. "She has left a significant legacy within our national program and we want to thank her for her continued dedication to our program."
Continuing members of the ODC are Doug Cundall (Barrie, Ont.), Sal Gara (Gatineau, Que.) and Gary Skjerven (Wynyard, Sask.).
