2026 WBSC U23 Men's Softball World Cup

Vero Beach, Fla. – The Canadian U23 Men’s National Softball Team has arrived at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida to begin its final preparations before heading to Sincelejo, Colombia for the WBSC U23 Men’s World Cup. The team will travel to Colombia on Wednesday, April 22nd ahead of the tournament, which will take place April 25th until May 3rd.
 
The World Cup features twelve teams divided into two groups. Following the preliminary round, the top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Round, carry their records against the other two Super Round teams in their own group, and compete against the top three teams from the other group. After the conclusion of the Super Round, the top two teams in the Super Round standings will play in the Championship Game and the next two will play for bronze.
 
Group A includes No. 1 Japan, No. 3 Argentina, No. 7 New Zealand, No. 9 Czechia, No. 13 Colombia and No. 14 South Africa, while Group B is composed of No. 2 Venezuela, No. 4 Canada, No. 6 Australia, No. 10 Singapore and No. 19 Denmark.
 
Team Canada qualified for the World Cup with a silver medal finish at the 2025 U23 Men’s Pan American Championship held in La Pampa, Argentina and will feature nine returning players from that tournament.
 
The red and white will open their tournament against Denmark at 3:00pm COT (4:00pm EDT) on April 25th.
 
The Canadian team is led by head coach Doug Allin (Peachland, B, C.) and he will be joined by assistant coaches Doug Charlton (Strathroy, Ont.) and Dan Whiteford (Duncan, B.C.). Mark Quinn (Mermaid, P.E.I.) will be providing support as performance analyst, and James Sawchuk (Mallorytown, Ont.) is the team’s athletic therapist.
