Sincelejo, Colombia – The Quick Story:
The Canadian U23 Men’s National Team lost its first Placement Round game to Argentina by a score of 6-4 at the 2026 U23 Men’s Softball World Cup Thursday.
Key Moments:
Team Canada was in control for most of the game, scoring the first run on an error in the bottom of the third later followed by a two-run home run by Connor Brooks in the fifth for a 3-0 lead. After only registering one hit off Nic Neid through six innings, Argentina’s offence finally got going by scoring six runs on five hits in the top of the seventh. Nick White drove in a run with a triple in the bottom of the inning, but that was as close as Canada would get.
Notes:
- The home run by Brooks and triple by White were the key hits for Canada.
- Max Major, Adrian Green, Riley Good and Will Schlotzhauer each added a single.
- Nic Neid was saddled with the loss despite six strong innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits with nine strikeouts.
