The Canadian U23 Men’s National Team will play in the Placement Round of the 2026 U23 Men’s Softball World Cup after a 12-0 loss in four innings to Venezuela on Wednesday.
 
Key Moments:
 
Venezuela got on the board early with a two-run homerun in the top of the first and added a run in the third. The offence then exploded for nine runs in the fourth, including a pair of three-run homeruns. Canada was able to get four hits over four innings but was unable to move the runners around to score.
 
Notes:

  • Nick White led Canada with two singles at the top of the lineup.
  • Max Major and Blake Brubacher each added a single.
  • Nic Neid got the start in the pitcher’s circle and allowed six runs on seven hits with four strikeouts over three plus innings.
  • Brad Barker allowed four runs on four hits in one third of an inning, while Dale Schweyer allowed two unearned runs on two hits in two thirds of an inning.

The loss dropped Canada’s record to 2-3 and fourth position in Group B. The Canadian squad will play Argentina (3-2) at 2:00pm COT (3:00pm EDT) on Thursday, followed by South Africa (0-5) at 11:00am COT (noon EDT) Friday and Colombia (1-4) at 9:00pm COT (10:00pm EDT) Saturday.
 
Australia (5-0), Mexico (4-1) and Venezuela (3-2) advanced to the Super Round in Group B, with Japan (4-1), New Zealand (4-1) and the Czech Republic (3-2) advancing in Group A.
