Canada Crowned Pan American Champions, Punches Ticket to World Cup Group Stage

Monteria, Colombia - The Quick Story:   

Team Canada delivered a stellar performance in the gold medal game of the XI Pan American Championship, winning 6-0 over Puerto Rico to claim the title Pan American Champions and secure a World Cup Group Stage spot.  

Key Moment:   

The bats came alive in the bottom of the third, where Canada erupted for six runs. With runners on first and second, Erika Polidori sparked the scoring with an RBI double, followed by a two-run double by Larissa Franklin to extend the lead. Kianna Jones then blasted a two-run home run to center field, and CC Wong capped off the scoring with a solo home run to right.  

The offensive explosion gave starter Dawn Bodrug all the support she needed, who pitched five scoreless innings and struck out six. Morgan Reimer came in relief pitching the remaining two innings. 

Notes:   

  • Erika Polidori went 1-for-2 with an RBI double. 
  • Larissa Franklin followed up with a 2-run double going 1-for-3.  
  • Kianna Jones followed up with a 2-run home run going 1-for-2. 
  • Caitlyn Wong hit a solo home run  
  • Dawn Bodrug pitched 5 innings, allowing 1 hit, walking 2 and striking out 6.  
  • Morgan Reimer pitched 2 innings striking out 1.
