2019 U17 Women Pan Am

Barranquilla, Colombia – The Canadian U17 Junior Women’s National Team is ready to compete at the 2019 WBSC Americas U17 Women’s Fastpitch Pan American Championship starting tomorrow at Adgardo Schemel Stadium in Barranquilla. The event will run from October 11-19, with the top five teams earning a berth to the 2020 WBSC U18 Women’s Softball World Cup.

Team Canada travelled to Colombia on Sunday and won a pair of exhibition games prior to the start of the tournament, defeating Peru 2-1 and Brazil 17-0.

It has already been a historic year for the Junior Women’s National Team program, who won their first ever medal at the 2019 WBSC U19 Women’s Softball World Cup in August when they won bronze. A total of four athletes from that team will compete in the U17 Pan American Championship.

The tournament will include a total of ten teams split in two groups of five. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Round where they will face the top three teams from the other group. Gold medal and bronze medal games will take place on the final day of the tournament based on final records of games between the six teams that qualify for the Super Round.

The teams scheduled to compete at the U17 Women’s Pan American Championship are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, the United States and Venezuela.

Live streaming will be available on the Game Time streaming platform and the WBSC YouTube page. The event can also be followed through the WBSC Americas social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the #U17SoftballPanam hashtag.

Team Canada coverage will be available through the Softball Canada website and social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
