Softball Canada is pleased to announce the Junior Men’s National Team Coaching staff will be offering a Development Program for athletes who are eligible for the 2021 WBSC Americas Qualifier and 2022 WBSC World Cup*.
*In the event the WBSC changes Qualifier or World Cup event dates, the age of eligible athletes may be subject to change.
Softball Canada is creating this program to align the talent development path that raises the standard of softball skills in Canada and prepares athletes to compete at: Canadian Championships, Canada Games, Junior Men’s and Men’s National Teams. The program is focused on the development of the following athletes: U19 (2004), U16 (2005/2006) and is aligned with Softball Canada’s Athlete Development Matrix and Sport Canada’s high performance athlete development pathway.
THE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM WILL COVER
Pitching, Catching, Fielding, Hitting, Base Running, Fitness, and Mental Performance
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PACKAGE INCLUDES
- Fitness training program
- Positional skills and drills
- Hitting program
- Pitching program
- Coach’s Eye account
- Skills Shark account for Player Evaluations
- Zoom sessions with Junior Men’s National Team coaching staff.
The Development Program will be begin on January 9th, 2021 with an introductory Zoom session with the Junior Men’s National Team coaching staff and participants and will continue until May 22nd (20 weeks)

Do not take risks beyond your level of experience, aptitude, training, and comfort level.
The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) are currently planning for the next series of World Cups in all age categories. At this time, the U18 Men’s program is not confirmed for dates/locations nor specific birth year categories. Softball Canada’s development program is targeted towards athletes born in 2004, 2005 and 2006 with the anticipation of these birth years for the next cycle. However, if the cycle is adjusted, the targeted birth years may be ineligible for WBSC events.
