Santiago, Chile – The Canadian Women’s National Softball Team will begin it’s the 2023 Pan American Games schedule this Sunday, October 29th against Cuba at 1:00pm local time (noon EDT) in Santiago, Chile. The red and white will be chasing their seventh consecutive medal at the Women’s Softball competition, winning silver at the previous event in Lima in 2019 and gold in Toronto in 2015.
 
Earlier this summer, Team Canada finished third at the Canada Cup International Softball Championship and competed at the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group C Stage in Italy, punching its ticket to qualify for the 2024 World Cup Finals next July in Italy.
 
The softball competition at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games will be played from October 29th to November 4th and will feature a total of eight teams divided into two pools. Canada will compete with Cuba, Peru and Puerto Rico in Group B, while Group A will include Chile, Mexico, the United States and Venezuela. After the preliminary round, the top two teams from each Group will advance to the Super Round, carrying their result against the other team that advances from their own group and will play against the top two teams from the other group. After the Super Round, the top two teams will play for gold and the next two will compete for bronze.
